Ethical Marketing

Labels:

When you begin your online endeavors and start learning internet marketing you will be bombarded with thousands of different ways which you can handle your marketing campaign. There is one thing to point out as you sort through all of these ideas remember that Google and other major search engines do not like being tricked and tend to ban any website in their index which uses unethical ways to reach high position with the serps. The problem with this is what once was ethical a few years back is now considered black hat SEO techniques and will usually lead to the website using the techniques to be banned which is a catastrophe for anyone online who is attempting to make money online. So as I list some of the different ways in which people trick Google into giving their website a higher rank please remember the reason for me listing these is not for you to use them and get banned it is so when you come across someone preaching how to get onto the top of Google using these techniques you will know right off that they are considered black hat and will only lead to trouble for anyone that uses them.

The first technique I would like to discuss is keyword stuffing or the repetition of a keyword throughout a websites headings and content. Now don't think that you should not place the keywords at all, but if they interfere with readership you know that you have repeated the keyword too many times. Personally I like to put numbers with things and I try and stay under 7% density.

Using websites within your marketing campaign whose sole purpose is to inflate backlink count and increase serps position. This is the definition of a link farm and if the majority of your links come from places such as these then you will be ranked poorly within the SERPs. FFA pages are a type of link farm and should be avoided as well.

Now even though Page Rank has little to no affiliation with the SERPs people are still always looking into different ways to increase the little green bar. I have come across a trick which will give your website a PR of 9-10, but if you get caught using such trickery within the online world be prepared for a backlash and usually be banned so don't do it. One way to trick Google in thinking your URL is of a higher Page Rank is to use a permanent 301 redirect to a very high PR site then after the PR update place the content back on the server and take the 301 down. From what I have heard Google has not fixed this, but if you get caught using it then expect to see dire consequences.

The last is garbage seo tactics and include cloaking, setting up crap presences, and the rest. Cloaking is when you either take words make them all h1 and at the bottom of the page repeat the keywords and then make them the same color as the background or so close the human eye cannot tell the difference. Get caught which you will and get banned. Setting up a crap presence is pretty much the same as setting up a link farm to boost your link popularity and is done by going to word press, squidoo, or other places and building a presence then having thousands of links per page pointing to your site, blog, or whatever you own. This of course is another bad way to gain rank and if caught you will be de-indexed. Anyway just some tips on what you should avoid when marketing your website or blog.
